Revealing the Invisible

This year’s Senior Honors Seminar will challenge the belief that the arts and sciences are opposing and exclusive disciplines and will demonstrate instead how the marriage of these two seemingly discreet ways of vision, thought, exploration, and representation can reveal new truths and provide richer aesthetic experiences. It will explore the vital role the arts play in shedding light on scientific realities too small to be seen and the role the sciences play in providing artists with new modes of artistic expression.

The Italian Renaissance, perhaps best represented in the person of scientist/artist Leonardo de Vinci, marked the re-emergence of the arts and the maturation of the sciences, ushering in an unprecedented era of innovation and discovery.

What new possibilities await tomorrow’s scientist-artists? What hitherto invisible truths will they reveal? Create? Imagine?
